If it were not for Tarik Skubal, Max Fried would be the hands-down Cy Young for the American League. He has been nothing short of dominant and consistently winning games for the Yankees, even when their bats go cold.

Kevin Gausman hasn’t enjoyed the consistent success that he had in 2024, providing some questionable outings in the first half of this 2025 campaign. In his April start vs the Yankees, Gausman allowed 6 runs over 2.2 innings. In fact, if you review the game logs for KG, you’ll see that any team that has a top-half offense has shelled him and chased him before the end of the 5th inning. Conversely, Fried faced the Jays in April and threw 6 innings, while allowing 0 earned runs.

Aaron Judge has leveled Gausman in their matchups, with 6 homers and 12 RBI in 41 at-bats, with a .341 BA. Paul Goldschmidt, while not as many faceoffs with Gausman, has hammered him for a BA of .538.

Injury notes. The Jays are without Bo Bichette and Daulton Varsho, Bichette being a massive loss for their offense. Anthony Santander remains on the IL as well, though hasn’t provided much offense for Toronto. The Yankees are without Austin Wells or Trent Grisham for today’s game, but Giancarlo Stanton is back in pinstripes.

BALTIMORE ORIOLES vs TEXAS RANGERS

PROBABLE STARTERS: YOUNG v deGROM

Jacob deGrom’s return this season has been sparkling clean and ultra consistent. The guy is complete money this season, with a record of 8-2 and 2.08 ERA with a WHIP of just 0.88. That is less than half the WHIP and ERA of his opposing starter, Brandon Young.

deGrom stymied the O’s last week, allowing a single hit and zero runs through 7 frames. In his 2 losses, he only allowed a combined 3 runs, as it was the Rangers’ offensive woes that should get the blame. Young faced the Rangers in the same game that saw deGrom throw a gem, where Young surrendered 4 runs in 4 innings of work.

We’re betting on a repeat of last week’s history here, and getting a decent payout for a modest risk. You could alt it up to -1.5 runs and go for the plus money, but the obviously safer call is to go for the simple single run lead gets paid.

CHICAGO WHITE SOX vs LA DODGERS

There are several options to play this game, but I’m tacking it onto the other 2 plays as a parlay. I will also play a straight with the Dodgers team total OVER 5.5 at +105. If wanting to go the SGP route, players to look at include Ohtani, Freeman, and Max Muncy for 2+ bases or RBI options.

Smith has allowed 12 runs and 8 walks over his last 12 innings pitched, getting hammered in starts versus the Cards and Dbacks, with his last outing being quite good…though it was against a Houston Astros team that is in the bottom half of the league in runs scored. Yamamoto has been a bit of a crapshoot in 2025, but his last couple of outings were quite good, with his last start at Coors field – surrendering a single hit over 5 scoreless innings.

The White Sox are also dealing with some injury woes, with Luis Robert Jr on IL, leaving Andrew Benintendi as the sole offensive threat. Take all of that, then add in the fact that the Dodgers lead the majors in Runs Scored, BA, OBP, SLG, OPS, HR…while the Southsiders are in the bottom 3 of all of those categories, and you have a recipe for wins with several different betting options.

BC LIONS VS SASKATCHEWAN ROUGHRIDERS
PICK: BC LIONS ML (+112)

KICKOFF: 7:00 PM ET
RESULT:

The Saskatchewan Roughriders are severely hobbled heading into their matchup against BC. Starting quarterback Trevor Harris is out with a head/illness issue, leaving Jake Maier to take the reins. To make matters worse, two of their top wide receivers, Samuel Emilus (foot injury) and Shawn Bane Jr. (knee), are also sidelined. This significant depletion of offensive talent, combined with the BC Lions’ league-best rushing defense, sets a challenging stage for Saskatchewan. While Nathan Rourke is a game-time decision for the Lions due to an oblique injury, he has been splitting first-team snaps in practice with Jeremiah Masoli. After a 1-2 start, having lost both times to the Bombers, expect the Lions to pull out all the stops to even their record against the Roughriders.

If Rourke indeed does start, I would be interested in taking the BC TEAM TOTAL OVER 23.

TORONTO ARGONAUTS VS OTTAWA REDBLACKS
PICK: ARGOS +2.5 (-110)

KICKOFF: 7:00 PM ET
RESULT:

This matchup features two clubs starting backup quarterbacks, but with a crucial distinction: only one of these signal-callers, Nick Arbuckle for the Toronto Argonauts, hoisted the Grey Cup last season as a starter. While Toronto entered the season as a Grey Cup favorite, their rough 0-3 start is largely attributed to the absence of their injured franchise QB, Chad Kelly, who is sidelined until Week 7 with a fractured tibia and fibula. On the other side, the Ottawa Redblacks are starting Dustin Crum this week, as regular starter Dru Brown is still working his way back from a hip injury.

Given both teams are grappling with significant injuries, I’m siding with the team possessing superior positional depth and the one that pushed the Saskatchewan Roughriders down to the wire in a 39-32 thriller just last week. The Argos, despite their current record, demonstrated resilience. The fact that the Argos are getting points provides excellent value in what could very well devolve into a low-scoring, ugly affair.

EDMONTON ELKS VS WINNIPEG BLUEBOMBERS
PICK: BOMBERS -10 (-110)

RESULT: WINNER

While I was initially drawn to the Over at 51.5, some factors give me pause, making live betting opportunities for the total more appealing if the game flow cooperates. Zach Collaros didn’t look his sharpest last week, and his soft tosses on passes over 10 yards, despite the Bombers’ cover against BC, raise a red flag for the overall scoring. On the other side, Edmonton’s offense boasts exciting playmakers but is turnover-prone, and Tre Ford’s scrambling, while entertaining, can lead to significant yardage losses. Ultimately, the edge lies firmly with the home team, who are 2-0 after two wins against the Lions this season. With the line settling at -10, that’s where I’m putting my money.

MONTREAL ALOUETTES VS HAMILTON TIGER-CATS
PICK: OVER 48.5 (-110)

RESULT: WINNER

Despite dropping their first two contests of the season, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats have unequivocally shown their ability to put points on the board and move the ball through the air at will, led by quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell. Both the Tiger-Cats and the Montreal Alouettes possess the offensive firepower to push the total well into the 70s. However, the line seems to be overvaluing Montreal’s defense a bit much. The Edmonton Elks managed to drop 28 points on them just last week. While the Alouettes did hold the Argonauts and Redblacks under 20 points, was that truly a difficult task? The Calgary Stampeders achieved similar defensive feats against Toronto and Ottawa, yet they still gave up 26 points at home against Hamilton. This game absolutely screams OVER.

Both teams absolutely need to win this game and preferably in regulation time as the battle for the second wild card spot in the eastern conference heats up. Unfortunately for the Caps, this game is in Detroit, where the Wings have an elite record this season. The energy will be playoff-like, as the Red Wings have not been to the playoffs for a few years and this game means something. We’re confident that Detroit will win, but not enough to make it a best bet in regulation time. It will be a good one to watch!

OTTAWA vs FLORIDA
PICK: PANTHERS PL (+100)

PROBABLE GOALIES: KORPISALO (C) vs STOLARZ (P)
RESULT:

Panthers are money at home and Ottawa is showing signs of giving up in recent games. There’s nothing for them to play for, and the Panthers want the home ice through the playoffs. You could choose to hedge this one with the OVER 6.0, as the only way that Florida doesn’t cover 1.5 goals, is if they get into a goal-scoring shootout.

CALGARY vs SAN JOSE
PICK: OVER 6.0 (-115)

PROBABLE GOALIES: WOLF (P) vs COOLEY (P)
RESULT:

No confirmed starters as of writing, but this one is a target for the OVER 6 flat if we get the projected goaltenders confirmed. If Wolf starts, we’ll take the OVER no matter who starts for the Sharks. If it’s Markstrom for the Flames, we’ll want to see Cooley in for San Jose before we lock it in.

KC did their thing and so did the Niners…eventually. The conference games were exciting to watch, but as a Lions fan it was supremely disappointing in how thing unfolded. I don’t figure the Super Bowl will be as entertaining, but this is an opportunity to make some dough.

San Fran is hungry. Yes, the Chiefs are never to be counted out with Mahomes and Kelce, but the Niners are loaded with weapons and CMC is the difference maker that will bring it home. The 49ers have the edge on the defensive side of the ball, and they are more balanced in their offensive weapons. Deebo is the edge that pushes SF over the top. He can turn a 2 yard reception into a 90 yard TD in a flash.

WASHINGTON vs MICHIGAN

Michigan already faced their toughest competitor last week in coach Nick Saban. The Washington Huskies limped to the finish line in one of the worst coached endings to a win I’ve ever seen. In the ending, they injured their number one RB in Dillon Johnson, who will play in the game, but he is far from 100%. Without a running game, the Huskies are going to have a tough time versus a team that actually plays defense. This is no track meet that the PAC 12 is used to. There’s going to be pressure.

On the other side of the ball, Blake Corum is going to run the ball down the Huskies’ throats. Washington gave up 7 yards per carry to Texas in a win…what will they do versus Michigan?! One mistake Texas made was abandoning the run with that type of production, Harbaugh will not make that mistake. The line opened at 4 and we snatched it up right out of the gate. Penix is great and he can surely throw a nice looking ball, but Michigan’s defense is mile and miles better than Washington. This one will be 10+ points in Michigan’s favor.
